Bed replacement

Hey, I have some bad rust in the bed and wheel wells of my truck. My mechanic said it's very common problem with these trucks. The truck is an 1984 with 7' Long bed. Are these beds very hard to come by? Would I be better off finding someone to do some kind of repair? Thanks.

try calling some fiberglass body panel places - like toyotafiberglass.com -- not sure if they have the USA style longbed, but i saw the japanese style (exterior upper bed rail) in longbed and it was starting around $2k.

also, try contacting some of the toyota salvage yards across the country. there are several who only do pickups/4runners.

yes it's a lot of money, but it'll never rust
I'd call some body shops and see what they can do for you too. flatbed is another common solution when the bed rots away.

Some of the flat beds look so cool but I think I prefer a normal bed. The damage is mainly on the floor of the bed and it's creeping onto the wheel wells. I'll take pics when I get the truck back from my mechanic. Thanks guys.

plan on doing it myself with Hannemann or toyota fiberglass bedsides.

toyota fiberglass has longbed sides
