bad engine wine

Hey guys, i sunk my 85 yota in a pond last night up to the doors. I got a lot of water splashed around and it quit running, i got pulled out and when i started it, it was only running on 3 cylinders, finaly the 4th one kicked in. I checked the oil and everything, it ran fine on the way home. Now today i have a high pitch whine from the engine when i rev it up. I have used wd 40 on the pulleys and such, made sure distributor shaft was getting oil, but it is still doing it. I just replaced timing chain, tentioner, guides. Does any one have any ideas? I do not have a fan, i am running electric fan, it never got hot or nothing and acually i shut the motor down because the tail pipe was under water but not deep enough to reach the engine.

It might be the alternator. A piece of hose is a good tool to help listen for noises.
