Axle rebuild how long to allow?
I got the threads to do a axle rebuild, but how long does this take?
I need to rebuild the whole thing front and back, thirds, bearings and who knows what else. How long does it take for the front and the rear seperately.
Both thirds are leaking.
Front knuckles are leaking bad!
rear are Humming at 40mph.
Also how hard is it to replacethe rear main seal on the engine?
can i do it by taking the trans out and get it from there?
Also would the u joints leak and spue greese?
Thanks B

A couple of hours to a couple of days for the front axle depending on what all you are planning to do:

I spent 2 days my first time, cleaning, sanding, painting, etc. as I went.
Rear wheel bearings would best be taken to a shop, have them press off the old bearings, and put in the new seals and bearings, or you could attempt yourself.

If the 3rds are leaking (pinion I assume), you can replace those seals yourself.

Red: I just changed my front diff last night. It took 4 hours including wheel bearing packing.
Things I didn't do:
1: inner axle seals (you need to do these) add 30 minutes
2: knuckle rebuild (you probably don't need to do these) If so, Add 4 hours.
3: fix pinnion leak (If you have a solid spacer, 30 minutes.
4: deduct 1 hour if you don't pull the diff.
