Aisin carb high idle

Aisin carb high idle
'86 2wd 22R with a knockoff Aisin on it. I bought it two weeks ago and the hot idle has been fast since I got it. I started tweaking last night hoping to fix it, and I realized that the mix adjustment screw does nothing. I can turn it all the way in and the truck keeps running.
I also have to turn the idle speed screw all the way out or the thing will rev to the moon. I back it out until it has no effect on the throttle cam / cable, and then it will "idle" at probably 1500 rpm.
I've check for vacuum leaks and checked the hose routing, but haven't had much luck. Timing may be off, I just ordered a timing light since I haven't needed one in about 25 years. Am I overlooking something? Thanks.

I read this thread and it HELPED for me... Eventually I sent it off to get repaired completely cleaned/rebuilt and they jacked it up. In the end I got the weber 32/26 kit from lce engineering and has been great since like 2014. They even sell smog legal adapters and parts if you need it for inspections.

To be honest a "knock off" aisin is probably not worth spending much time in adjusting though too/
