85 toyota

there is a 85toy 4x4 for sale in the local truck in paper.
I have 93 4rnr which I bought for my daily driver and hunt truck BUT am thinking this 85 is something I could build up in a full muddin/rock crawler type truck
anybody have a recommendations on what to look for or beware of in this year truck?

i just bought one of the same year. some searching on this forum lead me to lots of useful advice. try that, you'll get a bunch of stuff.

in particular, look for frame rust, especially near the rear axle. body rust in the rear corners and trim. also check the inside of tires for spraying wheel grease, that would indicate time for new wheel seals.

good luck.

When I did mine, it took the machine shop longer to work the block and head than it took me to remove, rebuild and replace it......

Buy a reference manual...........it's easy as pie from there.

In our area, FRAME RUST is the main concern.

Don't go by what you can see, it's what you can't see that will get you.
Toy frames rust from the inside out. Go over it with a small hammer, esp where it turns upwards, above the rear wheels, and where the tank sits against the inner rail.
