85 - rear windshield washer

My 85 has the bag in the driver's side rear compartment. I filled it with
fluid but can't figure out how to turn it on. It doesn't work with the
fwd windshield washer.

I don't have an owners manual and it's not in the Haynes manual.

it works by pushing the rear wiper switch forward and holding it down.

Thanks - I'll try it in a little while. Waiting on lunch time here.

Well it still wouldn't work - so I inspected the bag again and found that the pump wire was disconnected. Works like a charm now !

Now I am looking for the fuse that controls the rear deck light. Any idea where it might be ? I checked the driver side foot fuse box and it's not there.

The FSM does not describe fuse block locations - I also checked the box that is under the hood.

if your talking about the light in the rear cargo area on the drivers side, your headlights have to be on for it to work. at least thats how mine works.

That's the light, when I first got the runner it would work if the deck lamp switch at the dash was on - without the headlights being on. It quit working
and I've checked for power and ground at the light. I have a good ground but no power. I've also checked every fuse that I can find. I am going to run an accessory power block to the rear area - so I'll just wire it hot.

I bought one of those 12 volt heater/fan units at Walmart - I'm going to mount it on the wiper cover. My runner doesn't have the rear window defroster grid. I also got a couple of the clear flush mount lights that have their own switch - gonna light up the rear !

What's the switch below the cigerette Lighter for ?

Anybody got a scanned owners manual to share ?

headlights or parking lights have to be on for it to work. So does the dash switch.

They really don't want you to run down your battery

haha, i'd be suprised if i left that light on for a day and my battery wouldnt start.
I can run my system for 4 hours and it starts just fine afterwards.

I re-powered the deck light switch up front to run from a constant power (instead of switched power) source. Also swapped the incandescent bulb out for a white LED bulb. Works fine and the LED throws out a lot of light and the current draw is very low.
