85 4runner new stalling issue (Update: solved!)
I recently recovered my stolen 4runner which sounded good when it came back. They stripped it down some but oh well...
It sat overnight and I went to test drive it in the morning, but stalled after about 10 seconds. I fired 'er up again, stalled and thought it could be empty. I added a gallon but stalled again. If I fully depress the clutch it idles steady, but on release it begins to lope and will stall unless I give it clutch.
Any experience with this or advice is appreciated.
(Solution: gave it full tune up- plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pcv. Didn't help much. Replaced fuel pump and fuel filter which helped some. Then replaced TPS and adjusted it right, idle was nearly there. Went through engine bay, cleaning all the grounds. Bingo! Perfect idle. I think the moron thieves left the hood open during a snowstorm and some stuff corroded. NOTE: this should've been posted to newbie tech section, didn't know better at the time)
