85 22RE Timing Chain Question

Do I really need to remove Distributor when doing the timing chain with the head on? Why? Thanks

Yes, because the distributor drive gear is in front of the cam gear, which has to come off.

It's not like its a big procedure, it only takes half a minute to remove

Some people need things explained step by step and would rather post on a message board than actually go out and do the work.

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering since the distributor is mounted in the head. When I looked at it from the outside. I am checking on the walkthrough I have to determine if it's accurate.

Yea, often called the "hidden bolt" since its usually under a puddle of oil, and easily missed. If you do not remove that bolt, you will snap the timing cover.
