'84 is getting tired

well my truck was bought new for a boy svout camp and has had too many folks drive it but it was running fine.i bought it after getting running again by finding a corroded wire and re-attaching it.but now it is sitting being a very tired truck.

to get it to start i have to use either starting fluid or drip a little fuel doen the barrels and it will fire right up and run.for a while.after it getss to temp it bogs and putts and dies and wont fire back up unless i do the starting fluid/fuel thing.my dad and i work on it a while ago and found a solineod(sp?) that wasnt getting enough power to work properly on the side of the carb closest to the battery.he hooked in a resistor to boost the power to it.not enough coming from the computer.i replaced all my plugs wires.its getting a good hot spark at idle all my vacum lines are new and checked clear.the vacum advance is new and working and the timing is right.and its buring to much fuel so it wont pass smog which i would really like cause i love my truck and it gets me anywhere i need to go, well used to.also having trouble bogging down going up the 52 freeway here in san diego.so all help is very much appreciated.thanks all!

We're working on a similar problem. Check the accelerator pump diaphram. Bet it is ruptured.
