84 4Runner, not charging and the charge light is not on.
I’m at wits end. The alternator is not charging and the battery light is NOT on. I’ve checked the grounds, and cleaned them. I’ve taken the instrument cluster out and checked the bulbs. I jumped the harness to see if the battery and brake lights, lite, they did. The 7.5 amp fuse under the hood has 10.9 v when the keys in the run position. I’ve changed the external voltage regulator.
what am I missing? I’ve checked through hours of threads, everyone has a battery light on, with no charge.
It’s a 1984 22R 4Runner SR5.
this may help, I had it transported from Ft Dix NJ to Ft Sam Houston Texas. The driver tried to move it, on the trailer but couldn’t drive stick. He inadvertently left the ignition on (old key) and removed the key. I had to jump it when it arrived. It’s been not charging ever since.
Thanks for your knowledge.

Yes, new battery.
The battery is full charged. It on a trickle charger.
when it’s running and I disconnect the ground on the battery, the engine dies.
when running there’s 12.6 volts coming off the alternator (B) wire going to the battery. When it’s not running there’s 12.6 volts.
when I turn the key to the on position, I’m not getting the correct voltage to the fuse 7.5 charge fuse.
It’s FIXED, cleaned and tightened all the grounds, changed the ends on the power wire (alternator post and battery post), changed the alternator with an old one I had on the shelf. Battery light now comes on when the keys turned on and the battery is being charged too.
thanks for the input.
