22R seems really slow

Are they really that slow?!!?
I have an 85 PU with a 22R. 3-4" lift and semi big tires. I'll get specs on them later, but they cant be that much larger than stock.

Engine seems strong, no leaks on the motor it's self. Doesnt seem to burn any fluids.

When I am driving to work, I am always the slow car.
hard to get used to after driving the RX7.

Yup...that's just what you get when you drive a stock 22r. I mean you gotta give the sucka some credit. After all it is 23 years old assuming that it's the stock motor. Even if it has been rebuilt the stock 22r is a slug. And if you are running anything bigger than 31'' tires than you MUST regear! I suggest some power adders such as a header and exhaust system, a weber carb, and a new cam. Also keep in mind that a good ole fashioned tune up can work wonders.

I just did the 60k tune up and had the front main seal replaced. New fluids, filters, plugs, wires, distrubutor cap...
I wasn't expecting a race truck, but sometimes it's a little hard to keep up with traffic. I've only got her up to 65 and it took a while to get there.

EDIT: I just want to make sure this is normal.

Oh ya sounds normal to me! I can pull 65 down the freeway fine ..takes me awhile to get there but it'll do it. I have a 87 22r and I run 31x11.5x15. The hills are another story. It's a third gear show most of the time! I just let everyone pass me and think to myself......."Ha..Ya but I can go anywhere!" lol You get used to the lack of power after awhile!

31X10.5.X15s on mine. the tires do need a little air.
I am not really opposed to the lack of power, I just wanted to make sure it was normal.

EDIT: Its a gearing issue, correct? There is more torque for towing or offroading?

Perfectly normal. If yours is anything like my old 4x4 p/u I know what you mean, and I only had 235's on it. It was definitely a dog.
