It also sounds like your engine has somewhat of a knock to it, I'm not too sure though......

ok everyone we finished did everything by the book. and started it still smokes... its not a wet smoke like it was,its not smelly like a nasty wet coolant,we think it smells like fuel. does not smoke at idle when you start getting into 2gs it starts to smoke the higher u rev the more smoke. and its white... ill run it a while tomm and pray that its all the "cleaners" we used,getting burnt away. after a head gasket fix does the smoke (go away) or slowly burn away. please guys tell me some good news.................

 

Did you change the oil out? Sorry if I missed that, and I mean no disrespect.....Just thinking that, if it had some water in the oil, it's going to have to work itself out.

That gasket didn't look too bad to me at all. Not sure if you checked the timing cover for wear. White smoke would usually mean coolant or rings guys, no? Did you have the head checked for warping?...do another compression test? The cleaners you used DO cause quite a bit of white smoke, and they can take a while to work out, maybe 20 minutes of driving on average, give or take? If it's fuel, I would think your plugs would be black after not too long, smelling like fuel as well. Rich is usually black smoke, as far as I've learned.

 

no have not changed oil yet i will thoe! no warpage we ran today maybe 5 mins so ill chck plugs and run for about 20 mins tomm pray that its just burning the (crap out). "cleaners"

 

What "cleaners" are you speaking of? Did you run Seafoam, use cleaners to prepare surfaces?.....not sure what you mean by cleaners. Sorry, again, if I missed that.

I really don't think that would cause a smoking for any extended period of time. I thought you meant as in intake flush with Seafoam or something. If you'd been dealing with coolant/oil mixing issues for any number of reasons, .....and IF you've solved the problem with the HG....then yes, it's still in the oil. Is your oil milky at all? Or was this just a sudden "My truck is smoking" thing, with no OBVIOUS coolant in the oil?

 

id say no water in oil but it was really dark prob only 2k miles since last. well it is not smoking any more id say 5% smoke and only when i floor it for a long period of time. i did use sea foam like most of u suggested. i did take alot of miles to (clear the smoke). my power is back and no smoke,thanks to all that helped. now i just need to drop the tranny reverse finally let go.

PS> .....So, aside from it possibly having been a Head gasket...did those helping you say anything about the valve lash being way off? WOT HAPPAN?!? LOL. Just curious if you're pretty sure as to what was going wrong and what fixededed it, lol.

 

help me out here we adjusted the valves to the books specs dont really know if they were out of adjustment before (didnt check). id say its fixed now did i answer your ? ?????

 

Hey 85, ...not really, but that's ok, lol. Just happy that you're running well again! I was just curious, since you said "adjusted them" how much they were out. That could effect performance so I was just curious if anyone who was helping you could say, "Ok, this is what I think was wrong before we did....._ _ _ _ and _ _ _ _ _ _" know what I mean?

Actually, I was talking about the dog in the video on your youtube page. Bunch of people watching a game, the dog kept yelping "Whooooo" and the crowd would say "DAT", haha.

so i did a compr test finnally cly1 76 2,80 3,90, 4,90 what should they be is that to low?????

 

Yeah, 85, that's really low.

What they 'should' be depends on how new the motor is. New, they should be around 165-170, but down to 130 is still pretty tight. The more telling part of the test is how far apart are any given cylinders, ya know? Yours are all PRETTY close, but 13lb. difference on the #1 cyl. is a bit of difference(probably negligible)..... I'd be more concerned with the low numbers.

Are you sure you're doing the test 'to the books specs' and that your tester is good?

A fairly easy way to check if the tester is good or being used right is to check it on a known new motor, .....if the readings are being taken properly, they should be much higher. I thought I remembered your numbers, a few weeks back, being like 150# or so..? Wrong guy? lol.

Do you have any smoke out the tailpipe? What color if so?

 

no more smoke, i have not dialed the time in with a light yet would this have any thing to do with it? the same gauge i used last time, the numbers were no where near 150 more like 98 110 105 70
