22r choke heater element
I believe my electrical connection at the connector for my choke heater element works okay (one wire is only on when the motor is running) but nothing moves. Is the element toast? It looks like there might be a linkage missing because some parts swing around freely, but still, the shaft coming right out of the elements housing that attaches to a flap in the carb doesnt move, even after watching it for a few minutes after starting the engine. I have a spring on a linkage that keeps the flap open and rpms down, but its hard to start when cold unless i unhook the spring and close the flap.

the wire that goes farthest left does have 12v, and it looks like im missing a diaphragm lower left, but i read it doesnt matter. The spring is to return that part to the lower position so the rpms kick down during idle. without it it stays up around 2000. vacuum lines all seem right. any suggestions?
i know i need to clean my engine bay

I think where you have that secondary return spring is what is causing movement issues with your choke linkage. But it's been awhile since I messed with my AISIN. Not even sure if I still have mine laying around or not.

I had to use a secondary spring on my Weber too. Just find somewhere else to route it. I used a longer one attached it to the vacuum rail along the valve cover and ran it to the throttle cable bracket on the carb. Like I said it's hard to see exactly what that is attached to, but to me it does not look like it is directly attached to the throttle cable bracket on the carb. Or get yourself a new throttle cable bracket with a factory spring that works.

anyone else have pictures of the correct routing of springs and whatnot? I know the spring i have on there isnt stock, i put it there, but it shouldnt need it. I dont think my heater element is working, but i would have thought toyota would have made it more easily replaceable.
