2,000 miles away my brother's 22R won't start.
I am trying to help my little Brother get his 1984 22R 4X4 to start. It sometimes starts, he says, but also leaves him stranded sometimes. It doesn't die when driving. It just doesn't start (some of the time).
He said he has spark when it won't start and he has changed the fuel filter. I was thinking fuel cut solenoid.
Does anybody have a picture of this and know how to check it? I need to tell him by phone how to do these tests and checks. He is not a mechanic. More of a green thumb than grease thumb.
I'm hoping that somebody can help get my little Bro going again on the cheap.
BTW, he is in Columbia, Missouri.
I don't want him to add this truck as a permanent fixture on his lawn with the Geo and old Chrysler.
Thanks for any help here.

Sounds like a bad carb to me. When he gets stranded he's either flooding it or not getting fuel. Flooding is more probable.
Tell him to pick up a cheap carb out of the junkyard for $30 and change them. See if that helps. If it doesn't he also just purchased a basic intro guide to mechanics.
Tell him to rebuild the old carb off his motor and learn something
sorry bud, but with the little information you've given and he's given. Not much to tell you to do except replace carb?
