1985 toyota pickup, runs rich

hello, so i have bought my 4th toyota pickup here 3 weeks ago, love it, but when i bought it it never ran right, pulled off valve cover and the guy adjusted valves to tight. i re adjusted valves and it runs perfectly.... except for one thing. it runs so rich it stinks. ive checked timing, afm and tps. possibly o2 sensor? i only have the check engine light come on if the rpm/s stay constant at highway speeds. so 2500-3000rpm. help??? i'm stuck my first re, all my others were 22r and 20r.

well this is what i have checked so far. cold start injector(checked out ok) timing (ok) valve clearance (needed serious adjustment) and all vacuum lines (ok). haven't checked injectors for leaking yet. need to get a fuel pressure gauge to measure leak down.
As for milage.. HA! 10mpg maby...12 if im really easy on it. the milage dont bother me
to much. i just dont want it to wash out the cylinders and kill my engine. i'm thinking that the o2 sensor is messed up. because the truck does not miss fire at all, starts right up. purrs like new it just stinks of fuel to high heaven. the truck does burn oil through the valve seals
as a fyi.... the head is coming off next month and its getting a new top end.

lol 10 is not normal change your oxygen sensor I jut did mine picked it up from oreilly auto parts for like $32. Make sure you get the oem type one with the same wiring harness not the single wire one where you have to splice it. Try that out and see I'm about to hook up a gauge o see my fuel pressure this weekend but for a different problem. Good luck let me know how it goes.
