welcome to YT
to see if you truck has lifted springs--they will have some arch to them. Stock Toy springs (Upfront at least) will usually look pretty flat with very little arch to them.
-also depending on your tire size you will probably have a good sized gap between the top of the tire and the fender well
here is a link to a pic of my old '84 (2" BL and 4" suspension on 33's) that will give you an idea about your lift
the rear shock mounted horizontally helps to act like a traction bar:
(borrowed from slackers Trekker build)
set up an account on a free service like photobucket.com upload your pictures and than copy and past the [IMG] code that you will find next to your picture

On another note, the shock set up like you have it is pretty cool, honestly the first time i have seen that done.

shocks: I am running a set of Bilsteins all the way around.. seem to work for me
that truck of yours looks pretty good. 4" springs could be about right. Looks like you need to pick up some new matching tires.
Stock gears?
What is the story with the front crossmember in the bed?

there actully is a story behind that cross member being in the back of the truck, the guy that i bought the truck from said the previose owner and his brother were working on the truck together and they got into a fight, and one brother had built a nice custom bumber for it but when they got into a fight he took a cutting tourch to it and the crossmember, also a bat that explains front fender and the bed. so i had to weld the new crossmember on.thanks for your guys help

hey guys...dont want to open a new thread so i will post in here..
same as Brindlepitt, just bought a 85 PU... but i dont have the helper spring or shock
that he has, is that the reason every time im a full stop and start going forward the rear jumps ?
i was told to install a panhard bar..or to get a sway bar , because it wobbles to the sides at bumps or driving on the fwy...scary thing..
im lifted 6" ( as i was told )
BTW great potencial truck you just got...! solid front suspention FTW..! an extra cab!

are all your tie rod ends in good shape, bushing good, wheel bearings etc etc in good condition? no broken springs...lots of things could contribute to the symptoms you are describing.
basically it is an old truck, you need to inspect the front end thoroughly...most likely since is it old it has been abused and due for some maintenance...

no broken springs or weird bearing noise , no whinning sound when its on the road...once im driving or stoping no sound coming from there , only on take off's , like skipping or small jump..
the sound comes from the back, i would take some pics later on, but i dont have a sway bar or any other kind of bar... would a traction bar is needed when bigger tires are installed ? im on 33" tires
should i fab a bar to connect the rear diff to the chassis to keep the rear suspention in place...? is there a name for that part?
