1985 Carb Rebuild - broken power valve threads
Hi Ya'll,
I just bought an automatic 1985 Toyota Truck. I set out to rebuild the carburetor (off of a 22R) yesterday, and while removing the power valve and jet assembly, the threads on the power valve snapped. The rebuild kit I got from NAPA for my particular Carburetor ID#(35301) did not come with a power valve, although other kits do... So I see two options and would love any advice or thoughts.
1) It looks from the picture that RockAuto's kit might have a power valve, but for some reason many of these kits don't include a list of included parts. Anybody have any ideas on kits, or even places to get this single part?
2) There is one thread left on my existing power valve, enough to get a little bite. It was suggested to me by somebody at my local NAPA to do the rebuild with the existing power valve by using Permatex (green loctite?) Sleeve Retainer. Does anybody have any thoughts or suggestions on this route?
Thanks much!
Greg

Since you have the kit I would buy one on craigslist and start robbing parts or simply rebuild it.
There are some chinese aftermarket carbs that apparently work on ebay. There is a recent thread if you look.
Or a weber kit.

I have a oem Asian carb of my 1984 4Runner. Had it rebuilt by Toyota and adjusted it for my set up. Then after maybe 30-40 miles.... I Desmogged and got a weber. Buy my carb lol?
