1985 22R won't run right when timing is right

I think I might have confused you when I said it's two-piece. It is 1 part You have to replace the entire thing. What you can do for the time being is make a mark that is even with the keyway and use that as your new timing indicator. But That pulley timing marked moved for a reason and it's most likely gonna happen again on that part if you don't replace it. After replacing it, I would double check the cam to crank timing again and make sure it's right. Then move the distributor accordingly like originally planned.

We have success!
I put the new balancer on, retimed the engine, and it runs great! Smoother that it has in a long time (apparently the balancer really does work)!

If anyone is interested in how things turned out smog wise, I have started a follow up thread to go over the smog tests. It is called "22R Smog test woes (CA)"
