Good one. Its good to see people blast fords on here rather than just jeeps all the time.
As for the man with the 185,000 miles 22-R: That thing is just broken in, but if you must junk it in favor of something with a little more power, and a couple more cylenders, downey, and a couple other toyota companies have kits for a chevy 4.3 v-6, or a 3.8 buick v-6. If I had the choice, I might go with the buick, because they make supercharged versions of that motor that can be had pretty cheaply at the junkyard, or just look for a mid-late 90's Park Avenue thats getting parted out, and bingo, yer set for 35" tire burnouts.
