Weber 32/36 and timing.
I was wondering where you guys are running your timing with a Weber. I just put one on doing a head rebuild and I'm running a bit rough. I need to warm it up and adjust my valves still also.

My motor ran best at 8 to 10 with a weber 38 and other mods. I think most people run 8. Above that I would definately recomend premium and engine may not run better.
What do you mean about running rough? Do you think you have the correct jets for your application and altitude? Is the idle speed screw open more than the amount warned in the instructions?

No instructions, it'll back fire right now if I floor it, but I haven't messed with it much. I'm at 8, but I need to run it long enough to get to temp, so I can adjust my valves.

Did you buy it new?
There is a really good weber thread in this section not too far down that you should read to get everything running right and together. Backfiring when flooring could be a sign of lean mixture. Do you have a fuel pressure regulator?

I did buy new from weber carbs direct, but just the carb, no kit or air cleaner. I already had the lce spiral adapter and stoyota linkage adapter. I got it timed, but I have hesitation and a stumble when accelerating. I just blew some coolant out of God knows where also.

Hmmmm I think I remember reading that carbs from weber carbs direct are replicas and not original webers, maybe thats why there are no tuning instructions. Again the stumble and hesitation might be caused by a lean condition.
