V.I.N. question

V.I.N. question
I noticed that the VIN plate on my 1980 toyota 4x4 is missing.
I got the number off the chassi(pass side front wheelwell) and it matches the title.
I have a question regarding the plate under the hood maybe someone here can help me
figure this out.
this is what i found so far.
I found this number on the chassi, passanger side front
RN47-xxxxxx which is the same number on the title.
and a tag with these numbers on the passanger side fender in the engine bay;
MODEL RN28L-KRA
ENGINE MODEL 20R
PISTON DISPLACEMENT 2189 CC
FRAM NO RN28-xxxxxx
COLOR TRIM 023*ZD41
TRANS-AXEL L43*G082
PLANT P11
should the "FRAME No" on the tag and the number on the chassi match?
could anyone with the same year truck check these.
thanks,
ARQ.
1980 toyota 4x4, 4sp, yellow, long bed, w/tach, brown/tan interior, no A/C
PS: the person whom i bought it from has owned it for 20+ years and lives down the street.
it sat on the street for a couple then i hit him up for it.

Nope, frame number is just that, the model number of the frame. There are some common characters between the VIN and frame number, but they have different information. The frame number says what wheelbase, body style and engine it is set up for, like a pickup w/ 20R engine. The VIN also has the body color, engine/tranny type, trim level, etc.:

that holds true for 80+ vehicles when federal wanted 17 character V.I.N.s on all vehicles. Before that it was up to the vehicle manufacture to come up with their own.
I asked for a DMV record before I bought the truck, same VIN that is seen on the frame is on the DMV record and registration card. The pink slip(lien) was kept/destroyed/lost by a company that closed the local office. I got the lien release and same VIN was on it too.
At this point I am not questioning the validity of the tags/plates/ownership. It's more the need to know(cuiriosity) if you know what i mean.

kyle, do you still have that toy shown. I see it's yellow, what is your COLOR code? I've been having trouble finding what the COLOR(023) code TRIM(ZD41) are in an 80. I've seen 023 as a white, any clues.
thanks,
