I was wondering if anybody knows how to tell what year the manual 4spd tranny is in my 80 longbed. The person I bought it from got it from a guy that put a rebuilt 22r into it, but he couldn't tell me if the tranny was swapped or not, he didn't know. Now I have to put a clutch in and I need to know if it is a 81 down or an 82 up. This is the last thing I have to do and the truck will finally be done.

 

4spd 4x4 22r trannys interchange 81-83. It think they all use the same size clutch 79-83 anyways.
