Top of Piston hitting cylinder head
Hi all!
First time posting here, but I have a 1982 pickup, 22R that is down to the block. I have a new cylinder head installed, and I'm rotating the crank to make sure everything looks good, it sounds like it's hitting something. So I pull the head back off, and sure enough the piston has a raised ring on the top, and that is hitting the mating surface of the cylinder head
What are my options? I've been thinking of just replacing the pistons (since everything is pulled apart to that point anyways) or can I have a machine shop machine the head to fit the pistons? Is that a thing? I'm kind of stuck.

Either the new cylinder head is not the correct type, or the block has been decked excessively.
If the head is correct, The crown of the pistons might be machined, or a suitable spacer type thick head gasket used.
Do you have the old head for comparison??
