Seat Help on 1983 Toyota Pickup SR5 4X4

Hey guys I really need some good advice here. I am a bit overwhelmed with all the options available and I don't want to make the wrong choice with the cash I do have.

I have some back issues that are getting better but I want to install some nice seats in the truck to soften the ride and support my back more.

My truck is 90% daily driver and 10% weekend fishing wheeler in the back country. It is on a 4" lift with 35's.

I do not have a place to go sit in seats and check them out and so this has been a difficult decision.

Given what I have and my use of it:
Suspension seat? No Suspension seat?
Fixed back? Recliner? (super small cab so I figured a fixed back on a slider bracket was the way to go.
What brand?

My budget that would include shipping is $1200 but I do not want to spend all of it is that is possible, but totally willing to do that if it is the right product.

Thanks ahead of time for any advice you may have.

How tall are you?
If you are short like me (5'8"ish) you can probably squeeze in some recliners (get some with adjustable lumbar support and heaters, my back is fubar from the military)
If you are taller your choices are gonna be limited. But with a $600 per seat budget your options are greater than most. Look at the usual companies: Corbeau, Recaro, PRP.
For a 90% DD I wouldn't suggest suspension seats, I did it for awhile and it sort of sucked due to the deeper seats IMO.

My 4runner project is getting a set of junkyard Prelude seats I kept from my 81 projects, still in great shape and adjustable

Dave- aka: kawazx686 put a nice set of Corbeaus in his 83, check out his build thread.

I have 81 Prelude seats in mine. Same lift as yours, it rides rough, 35 inch tires, and I drive it every day. The seats are real easy to put in, you will need to drill some holes. I think a set of factory seats out of any of the Honda, Toyota, Datsun, etc cars would be the way to go. Spending $1200.00 on two seats isn't something I would do. I haven't priced wrecking yard seats in a while, but I would think $600.00 should get you some of the nicest seats around that are ready to go. The recliner option is great, real easy to put stuff behind the seats with it. Oh, I'm 5' 7" or so. Nice looking truck. Any more pictures of it?

Thanks for the input guys. I am 5'10" 220...and dropping weight.

I have been looking at the corbeaus as they seem to be the only company that makes a slider mounting bracket for my 83. I don't want to fab anything so I am hoping to just find somthing I can drop in. I never store anything behind my seat really but with the slider I figured I could go with a fixed back seat and slide it forward/back to store small stuff.

Like I said I don't want to spend all $1200 but the most important thing is the right seat to treat my back right. I really just don't know if the suspension seat is the right way to go. In order for me to sit in a seat and see how it feels I need to drive 320 miles to sit in one so it is cheaper to order seats and return them if they don't feel right.

Pretty frustrating but it is the price I pay for living in one of the most awesome places in the US.

Well after reading KawaZX636's build thread I decided to go with the Corbeau Moabs that he used they looked like they fit perfectly and they didn't kill my budget. I had enough people tell me that a suspension seat in a daily driver would eventually be a problem so I steered in the other direction. Thanks for the info guys. I will post some feedback on them when I get them installed in a week or so.
