mine is bolted, self tappered, welded, and brazed on lol totally unsafe, unreliable, not done right in any way, shape or form, and i dont trust it at all, it was only temporary to get it on the street to make it to graduation a while back.... once nice weather rolls around, i'll fix it, no big rush for me tho, got a 4runner to work on now

fyi, the reason your fluid looks like that is from water contamination. Always take care of your lubricants if you are off road. I see this every day at work...water and lube don't mix...sux about your damage.. cheers

yes but i just drive it to school which is like 1 1/2 miles through a town (25mph) occasionally it will get driven more than 15 or 20 miles on state highways...but nothing more...no BIG trips...NEVER anything more than about 30 miles or so. Why?

I thought my floors were bad. Remember you have body mounts there too so how ever you decide to fix that rust make sure you pay attention to those, without the cab being supported there its gonna be putting alot of stress on the rear cab mounts which are most likely rotten too. I really wish someone would offer replacement floor pans for our trucks though! .

Looks like its time to upgrade to a 5 speed. You are damned lucky not to have flipped.

cut out a piece of 18 gauge steel, roll some beads in it, bend it to fit properly, and spot weld it in then spot weld the inner and outer rockers back on and the body mount on, finish it up with some seam sealer and rhino line the inside and underneath and call it done

just curious, what do you mean by hard to drive with the 5spd? being an 87 5spd would make it really nice being an even better improvement over the 1st gen 5spds, and the L43 4spd were designed and used in toyota's previous generation 2wd trucks! its a 2wd tranny with a alum. adapter to the t-case, with the highest of all toyota tranny 1st gears, terrible for a 4x4 with bigger than stock tires

idk...it was probably because im used to my 4spd...not the 5spd....it wasnt hard to drive...just harder to find gears...(i drive a 5 spd geo metro...a 6spd dodge diesel 4x4..and my 4spd truck..)yet this yota felt different...and VERY underpowered for some reason...but no doubt...i would love to have a 5spd in my truck....if i could find one that didnt need to be rebuilt........great...now im gonna hit craigslist AGAIN today...lol

My floors are only rusty right around the body mounts and where my heels rest on the floor(driver and pass side., same on the passenger side except it extends up the fender well a bit.

What I plan on doing is cutting out some 18 gauge panels and bending them to fit. Then taking some strips of 18 gauge and bending them on the sheet metal break shaping them like the stock "ridges" that are spot welded to the floor and going that route since I dont have access to a bead roller, should work fine. I wish I had access to a wire feed, would make welding the panels in a whole lot easier, I dont want to use any sealer on it, I want it to be all metal.

My only problem is making the indent for the body mounts, im thinking of putting a short length of 4" diameter or around there piece of pipe in the press and pressing the sheet metal down into it to make the indented shape but I have no sheet metal experience so that probably wont work at all, it works in my head though .

on the floor thats in mine now, all i did for the indent was use a big washer on the bolt and cranked down on it, and it sucked down to look almost like a factory indent...almost
