it might. only one way to find out.... but take the spring off before you weld so you can be sure to get the right penetration. hopefully wabbit posts on here, he does that stuff for a living, i KNOW he'd have an answer to your question other than 'its shot, get a new one'. sorry i couldnt be of more help... but i dont weld...

Its a pretty common place for the frame to crack, there is no way forthe mud/ water to get out of the frame in that location so it eventually gets rusted thin the damage is probally worse on the inside than what you can see on the outside.

I have seen many repairs done in that area with a 220 mig, 110 mig, and arc they are all holding up and every repair was done differently.

I am always getting flamed about using my 110v Lincoln Weld Pac 100 on everything but that is just what I did I take my time in prep and really dig in with the flux core wire. The duty cycle sucks but I jsut deal with it. I have patched my frame, welded all my suspension, gussets, trusses, drive shafts, flat bed. I still have yet to see one of my welds break.

This is considering you can lay down a nice bead with full penetration on a low amp low duty flux core dirty hobby welding machine then I would go for it

Alot of people talk down about other brands of 4x4s. I have built, tried and worked on just about everything you can think of over the years and I have learned:

It does not matter what brand/build of a rig you bring for the ride. What matters is that you are not alone and you have someone to help you if you or they get stuck. You can pick on each other and have the memories and learned lessons later. Just have fun and don't leave the land/trail trashed. If anything, leave the trail cleaner in better shape than what it was before.
