Removal of Air Injection System? 79 2wd 20r

I recently bought a white 1979 2wd short bed toyota.

It has the 20R with the air injection pump stuff.

I was wonder if someone could point me int he right direction for removing the system. We don't have smog testing in NC.

If I take everything off that has to do with the AIS will the truck run?

I did it on my first truck with no ill effects. But that truck was so bad the cab rested against the box. Talk about articulation!

I took all that off mine as well. Then i build a 20/22r hybrid and got rid of all the smog/AC and vacc lines from my 20r carb that i am using on it. I now only have 3 vaccum lines coming off my carb and it runs great.

all you need to do is plug off the vaccuum ports and remove the system

then what are the only vac lines i need to run for the 79 20r carb to run fine? i just want to take everything off and put the most basic setup on with out going to a weber. i have no idea what half these sensors and such are for on and around the manifold. I have never really dealt with a carb. mostly EFI on Volvo's and a 87 chevy 350

its hard to say what the 20r carb needs and doestn need to run good I have capped off the many ports on the stock carb before and it ran ok but it was a hurting carb to begin with now I have a weber.

What I can tell you it you can delete the entire EGR system, buy or make block off plates. you can block off the manifold at the exhaust, head, & intake.

The Weber is the only way I know how to simplfy the vaccum mess its really not that expensive for the conversion kit.

Good milage and performance increases too
