Odometer question

I am new to yotatech, and I really enjoy the discussions--I have learned a lot.

I recently purchased a 1983 4x4 (probably overpaid considering it blew the headgasket a week later, but still love it!), and i bought it off of a guy who got it two years ago from the original owner. The guy I bought it from said that the original owner used it only on hunting trips and it was towed behind his RV for every trip. My question is, on these older models would the odometer have run while the the truck was being towed? If so, the 190,000 miles it shows may actually be inflated.

It depends. If they were actually pulling it on all 4 wheels behind the the RV, you'd better hope they disconnected the rear driveshaft, otherwise your t-case has had a really rough life. If they did disconnect the shaft, then no, the miles won't show up on the odometer. If they didn't, then yes, the miles would be counted.

Post some pics! Welcome to Yotatech.

x2 on what Zach thread.
Toyota transfercases even if put in neutral should not be flat towed with out the rear DS removed.

Welcome to YT!

That's a good question, though: will the odometer register the miles with the t-case in neutral?
