More Carb Issues- 1973 FJ40
I have a 1973 FJ40 with a similar problem as the previous gentleman in the other post with the 82
It won't necesarilly fire right off the bat.. The fuel down here is terrible also.. I don't know if that ahs anything to do with it.. could my carb jsut be worn out.. (erosion from crappy gas for the last 35 years with miniscule particles in it?)
The Funny thing is that If I get it just right it will fire on the actual first time around.. like the instant I turn the key.. but if it doesn't- It will go an average of 8 seconds.. but its still pretty cosistant.. I was reading up above.. in the otehr post- where would the fuel leak out of when sitting.. all the tubes to to an area above the level of the fuel dion't they.. Any Help would be appreicated.. one of my friends says something about a valve on the fuel pump not stopping the fuel from bleeeding back into the tank.. could this be true? he's not a toyota person.. but generally handy.. Enter real problem.. I am in PERU SOUTH AMERICA- and things like carb kits are nearly impossible to come by.. Thanks for all your time.. Right now the gasket aroudn the top of the bowl is a really well made original by me out of the top of a cereal box.. Its does a good job.. but does't stop the problem from happening..
