I got some generic "Import Truck" mirrors from napa, they were like $20 each, mounted in the stock location, and didn't look dumb like the gigantic trucker mirrors or like they were too small to see out of em. they work decent, adjustment is easy without being floppy, and they survive on the trail for me.

Just giving you a hard time. Go on ebay and you can find the stock mirrors all day long. Good luck with your truck.

Look what I found! Can I join your club?

Needed to pick up a second vehicle to serve as a daily driver for a little while and I found this on the side of the road - 1983 auto 2wd with 106k miles. Vin traces back to an SR5 but still working to confirm that. I'm not terribly familiar with these old trucks but I have been learning very quickly! Everything looks to me to be original and it's quite clean considering its age. No rust on frame, just some bubbles above the rear bumper/tailgate. It does run a little rough at idle, but smooths out once it has gas. The previous owner stated that there is low compression in the #3 cylinder, making it shake almost like a diesel. I am going to work to confirm this and have definitely confirmed the shaking.... Oil is clean and it doesn't smoke so I'm somewhat encouraged by it so far. This was a Washington State truck that is now living in Michigan. Feel free to ask any more questions you may have and I'll try to answer if I can!

I think the '99-'02 wheels go quite well with the 1st gen trucks!

well guys got my truck back from the shop its taken a month for them to put a timing chain on it and then they still couldnt get it started so i bought a new distributor, then they had to re-time it and during the process they stripped out the sparkplug hole in the number one cylinder. so i bought some helicoils and fixed that problem. now its gotta go back because its pouring oil out from behind one of the pulleys that they had to remove to change the timing chain all i know is im never taking my truck back to those guys.

i just put a head on my 22r,i forgot the bolt thats hidden by the timming tab, behind the harmonic ballencer....so i have an oil leak that get sprayed by the belts and fan.

crawl under the truck and see if that bolt is missing or loose!

ill get you a pic

see the missing bolt behind the top of the pully!
i feel like an idiot....but i caught myself before startup....but ran it anyway.
you on the otherhand ....paid a few idiots....lol.
i have my ac system off,so i can eaisly see the pully.....if you have a ac compressor....good luck seeing back there.
to install the bolt, the harmonic ballencer needs to be removed to install it.

this may not be your problem, but that 1 bolt is a good place to start
