I just picked my "new" truck up, a short drive, and $600 later:
I just might have to take a road trip to Hazelton, PA. (it's only 3 hours)

Thanks, I searched google and found the site. What's the inventory like for first gen pickup parts? Condition?
I did a parts search and it brought me to EDEN online? (mypartshop.com)

the inventory search has always been lame for me, livin only a half hour away, i try to get there like everyother week, i've seen 2 first gens so far on was a 80 last winter, frame was toast, floors were actually the worst i have seen, becasue i didnt see any haha, and about a week ago there was the 82 i mentioed earlier...the only fault i saw with the truck was surface rust on the inside frame rails (not rot!) cleanest cab i have ever seen on a first gen
theres usually a heathly selection in toyotas whenever you go, but the 3rds are ALWAYS gone..always

Before I start my rebuild, I will seriously start looking for a frame. This might be the only thing slowing me down. Well that and trying to pay for it
I gave the truck a quick lookover while it was in the owners garage (as seen in the pics). I knew then, that the frame was going to be a problem. When I pull the cab and engine off, I'll know for sure.
How are my chances on finding a frame for this thing (shortbed)? I need parts also to repair the floor, but if I can't bolt the cab to something it doesn't matter.

good, clean frames from a 1st gen toy are a rarity, most look great on the outside of the rails but the inside of them are toast, maybe a shortbed 84-85 SA frame would work?

Nice one white83! You still have it?
I will have a look at all frames from 1979 to 1985. I know I can find a newer frame, but I do not want to do a SAS for a truck that already has one.
