1981 SR5 2WD Pickup
Hello everyone!
My name is Brittney. I recently purchased a 1981 Toyota pickup. It's got a 22R engine. I'm having some trouble finding parts. Any suggestions?
My pitman arm seems to have gone bad. My steering is rough and the part has been discontinued. I've tried any website I can find.
Also trying to do a full suspension lift about 3". Know any sites?

To answer your question, you could call some of the Toyota graveyards....meaning Toyota specific wrecking yards/salvage yards. There is one in Colorado but I can’t recall the name. You can call them and get parts.
Also you can join some of the Facebook groups then ask there. You will get responses pretty quickly on some of those groups

Being a 2wd truck, don't lift it!
First, it is a cool truck just the way it sits. Second, in lifting 3 inches you'll be opening a whole can of worms with regard to changing steering and suspension angles. You'll have to do a ton of work and you'll just end up with a 2wd truck that handles like crap. Especially in winter.
You can almost certainly get a pitman arm from Jims Toyota Truck Parts or Yota Yard. Both in Denver, CO.
If anything outside that truck's comfort zone is to be done, maybe lower it an inch, slap a 20R head on and go drift it at a local track.
If you want an offroad capable truck, sell that one and buy a 4wd.
I'm mostly joking about drifting it but you'll have more fun in that direction than you will trying to go places you might need a lift.

Later models have good aftermarket support for prerunner style 2wd ifs lift kits. Im not sure if those kits would bolt up to this generation. Theres some legendary 2wd toyota race trucks out there.

I bought it for a project truck. It looks better than it is. Someone did a half a## job on the bodywork. It’s gonna be a while to get it back to being a road worthy truck. But I have the time to get it back in shape.

My 1979 pickup
Hey, fairly new to the forums. Here’s my ‘79
From what I can tell by vin id it’s a stardard model longbed.
it has a split moon roof with a long dome light in between. Adjustable steering column and a tach.
needs some tlc and definitely has some major rust issues in the bed and some decent dents around.

Bought this truck after someone had resurrected it from the junkyard and finally threw enough cash at it to get it this far. It's definitely been a learning experience.

@OGChapelBoy -- that rig is awesome! Goals for us all! What headlights are those?
Here is the truck I just bought:
It has a 22-re swap, 4.88s, new paint, and an ARB.
I have a build thread going and would love you all's input and advice! I am new to Toyotas but a 1st gen has always been my dream truck.

I am currently searching for a stock drag link and traction bar if anyone has one for sale!

Hi Toyota fans, guys and girls. Here is my current daily driver. I have owned it for about 15 years, drove it for the 1st 7 or so of those then parked it. Started driving it again this spring. It is a beater but runs great. Thinking about putting a suspension bushing kit in it, new shocks, and new tires. I have 3 other 1st gen 4x4's that run and drive, and two projects as well. ( My wife drives a 1st gen 4runner)
