Pulled plugs and took pictures of each cylinder. Added Marvel oil to each and turned over a few times before starting. They look awesome!

Hey guys, thanks for the add!!! Quick intro, back in 82 my dad bought a 1st Gen 4x4 and I was with him on that day! I went on my 1st date with my wife of 31 yrs now in that truck. Back in the 90s he did a 350ci engine swap, along with a TH400 tranny and a Transfer case out of a 3/4 ton Chevy PU. He also did a paint job and add some graphics about that same time. Somewhere along the way, he parked it in his barn and its been sitting there for nearly 20 yrs. He's now 75 yrs old and wants me and him to re-vitalize it. So for about the past month we've been working together on it. I've been hearing all kinds of stories about the ol girl. So far, I've drug it out of the barn, put new tires on it, changed all the fluids and added a new battery, Distributor, and other parts as I find that it needs.

Here’s my 83 SR5 I just picked up after hounding the previous owner for almost a year. It was parked in a shed for the last 15 years so it’s a ways away from being road ready. Will be installing rebuilt 22r first. Will be stock looking but with modern upgrades to the drivetrain

Hell yeah! That thing looks rough and ready. A couple small things to clean up here and there but if it's rolling on it's own that's most of the battle won.

1980 Pinellas,
It looks very similar to the factory "Terra Cotta (3A7)" color that was available for 1983 trucks. My truck is an 83 and is Terra Cotta.
See these links for more paint information:

Hope that helps,
Sam

I got a 79 SR5 a few weeks ago, with plans to do a fairly complete restoration. Came with a 20/22r hybrid motor (not in the truck) and R151F tranny & T-case (yay!) So she'll have 5 speeds and a lot more pep than the original 20R... Since the motor was already out, I'm rebuilding it with some performance upgrades (stage 2 cam, dual valve springs, O/S valves, side draft carbs.) I decided to mildly port & polish the head while waiting on the machine work. It's pretty simple and fun once you dig into it. For a 79 it has very little rust (no holes in the floor and the bed is solid) but someone thought it would be a good idea to paint it with house paint, so the brown layer is very thick and chunky (see bottom of tailgate). That's going to be a pleasure to remove when the time comes.... It has a later bed with the center handle (Any ideas? 83 perhaps?) but the lines match the cab pretty well. I might remove the trim, or add some to the doors so they match. Depends on how thorough I want to be with the restoration.
Anyway enough yapping from me - on to the pictures! Here is one from when I first got her onto my property (towed by my 1990 toy) and from another angle to show the tailgate. Oh yah it's got a custom bumper with a Ramsey 10K winch too.
I may start a build/restoration thread. But I work full time, go to school part time, and I'm also building a house, so the truck restoration project is going to take some time. But it's so much fun I find myself carving out time for it even when I shouldn't be... Sorry for the lengthy post, but I've been browsing this thread for years and I'm stoked to finally be able to post in it!
