Thanks Robb. Yea, I bought it without truly knowing or having proof on the original mileage. The owner was in his 80's, was a straight up cat and shared the history with me about the truck. I had been looking at 1st gens for almost 2 years and the moment I seen this truck, I knew it was the one for me. Love it, and have mixed emotions now about what I want to do to it in the future. One of the cleanest trucks I have seen here locally in a long while. Was planning to do a small lift and use as a beach truck to wheel, haul and launch a boat, etc... I may now, just stripe it, go back to the original wheels and caps, and use as a road princess.

You have a wealth of knowledge to say the least, I appreciate your feedback and the data you have provided for us users and fans...

Ps, that buddy of yours still have those original wheels in PDX you mentioned a few years back?

Please put some original time specific wheels on there, the truck deserves it!

Thanks! I haven't taken a lot of pics of it, but here's a couple more.

I blew the engine at the beginning of summer and am planning on an engine swap this winter. Then some body work, replacing some pieces here and there, and paint eventually.

Nice clean truck. That canopy sits and looks killer on it as well. I'm debating on painting versus stickers for a tailgate on my 79. Is yours factory, or stickers?

Here is the cleaned up rump of mine

That's a thing of beauty there. I'm glad to see someone else with a topper on the back. I took my rollbar off and put my topper on when I was in college and 'grew up'. But it just makes the long bed not look as long and I like having a place to put stuff in the back. If I ever get her to where I want to show her in cruise-ins, I may put a rollbar back on..rollbars were totally 80's. IDK.
But it's hard to believe that the Toyota is still that bright from the 1980 factory paintjob. That's perfect. Mine sat in my barn for years while I raised a family. She sat with the front covered by the barn but the tailgate faced the outside and got a lot of sun.
I LOVE those old tailgate latches. I had a budd had one exactly like yours, trimeed out in chrome.
Have you never had any rust in that bed? Is that all the original paintjob?
How many miles? Drive it much?
Manual steering isn't as much fun at 55 as it was driving her home from the lot when I was 19.
Well done bud. Well done.
Inside pix?

Loboro, nice truck, once again. Can I ask, your tailgate, letters painted or that 5" sticker kit that's available? Also love the look of steel wheels and caps. Aren't those the stock size with 31 x10.50 15"s ?

Great truck.....

Went and looked at this today , made an offer of 5k , guy said he couldn’t do it but I think he’s thinking about it. It’s complete and everything works , just not sure about the paint scheme

Couple shots of mine being treated like a 4x4 truck or some such nonsense
It's not pretty, but it is definitely loved.
