Same here... a DC would be way better than a trekker..
throw my Trekker suspension and drive train in a 79-83 DC and I'll never get out of the driver's seat

Maybe find something "cooler" that is closer to the 31's.? (or if you're set on going bigger, so with 32, instead)

82 Longbed

Picked up this 82 Longbed a few weeks back from my father in law. 160,000 miles 1 owner truck. Truck is almost totally stock.

In the beginning stages of fixing her up to be my daily driver. Bed has some rust issues but I am planning to build a flatbed for the time being. More pics to come. Can't wait to wash and wax this weekend to make her shine!

Just picked this one up about a month ago, its my first Toyota. Got tired of my V8 beasts and sold them so I could start woking on this first gen.

Since this photo ive put on a new grill/bumper, new windshield, new leafs, shocks, brakes and some smaller shifter and interior parts.

I was thinking about making a dedicated thread to show updates and also ask Qs about thing I run into but wasn't sure if it would be interesting or useful to anyone other than me! I figure most of my Qs have been answered over and over so I'm try to just use the search function...i know how forums can be.

Hi

Hi been surfing this sight for a long time and decided to finally join. I will be purchasing a 1981 Toyota 4x4 long bed, from the original owning family. I'm looking on here to see if anyone can give me and the owner a reasonable ball park figure as to what price should he sell it to me for? Were up in Canada. The truck is all original and has 217000kms (not miles). It does have some rust on the box and there is a couple of spota that are right through. Engine starts and runs great (ecept there are a couple of oil leaks). Interior is excellent. No mods on it. Has the 22R engine. Heres a couple of pics:

I'll be purchasing it at end of Sept. Anyone have an idea what a fair price would be? I've been bugging the owner for 8yrs and now he's agreed to sell it to me. Any suggestions would be very helpful, as there such a variance in pricing for these 1st generations. Hope to hear from a few owners. Thanks.

I've seen trucks like that in Seattle with asking prices between 6 and 8 thousand, assuming the rest of it is as clean as the outside. I recently saw an 84 2LT truck with 80k miles with an 11k asking price that was only listed two weeks before it was pulled. Prices here are probably higher than most due to the climate, geography, cost of living and availability of non-hacked up first gens. Most look like a cross-eyed teenager took a sawzall to it and installed a 350 in it backwards. Or are rusted out.

If it were mine 6k is what I'd take after having it for sale for ten months with zero interest after getting laid off. The second a truck has any suspension mods the price plummets fast in this area. If it's basically all stock and super clean anything less than 6k is a deal, 4k being theft imo.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your thoughts and opinions. I appreciate you taking the time to reply to me. I agree with a lot of what you said. These are getting harder to find especially non modified ones. I really love the stock ones and have always wanted this one from the first time I seen it. Its to bad about the rust on the box, but other than that its in really nice shape. Thanks again.

I understand it has been owned by one family and the truck is clean, but Hard to verify mileage or kilometerage (is that what they call it in metric places) with a 5 digit odometer.
Overall the truck is worth pricewise what you are happy to pay. It is clean, rusted through bed (nightmare to repair) $5500 tops with out more info like if it is a 4 or 5 speed etc..

If it is a top shift L45 4 spped you are lucky.
If it is a side shift L43, not so much...the shift linkage likes to wander around
