How was it auctioned with out a title? I don't see any way around NY standards. Maybe you could get the auction paper work? Might try for a lost title?

That's what I'm not sure about.. The guy I bought it from claims the paper I have is the only paper he got when he bought it.

Lost title application would have to be filled out by the original owner.. That might be the way I have to go.. I can only hope she will be willing to cooperate

Good luck with NY DMV, when I moved there in '97 I had used some money when I sold my house in Oregon to pay off my '97 Tacoma so I wouldn't have a payment. Though I had an Oregon license and Oregon Title, they were trying to make me pay sales taxes on a truck I bought and paid for as an Oregon resident...I left NY in 2000, I come to find out in 2002 New York was trying to suspend my Oregon License in 2002 because I did not turn in my NY plates when I moved...People in NY are great, but working with the gov't there sucks...taxes too...Maybe it was just Erie Country... sorry for the NY rant, but they can make it difficult sometimes....

My advice to you to bug the former owner for a signature...

well guys, I got it figured out. had to find the oldest woman at the DMV and beat her face in with the manual they keep behind the desk.


I even drove it the 30miles to school today. Tonight or tomorrow I'll get the new LTB's mounted and this weekend will be the maiden wheeling trip. Wish me luck, I'll come back with pics

What size LTB's did you go with? I have the 31's and love them.

Viewed youalls trucks- look nice. I will post some pics later - 83 SR5 clone. Rolled the 1st one (bone stock shortbed) and decided to completly rebuild it the way I wanted.
Process - took 81 4x2 cab and converted it to '83 4x4 cab (this meant swapping out radiator core support, reinforcing forward body mounts, and relocating shifter holes in trans tunnel). Swapped out harness to '83 - modified for SR5 and other goodies (off road lights, Air compressor, etc). Put all on Long bed frame with 4" pro comp lift, 33" tires. Modified front brakes with '88 landcruiser vented rotors, 90 4runner calipers.

In process of rebuilding engine using Rock products, 040 over with RV cam.

Future plans include mouting engine driven york air compressor with air tank, and on board welder. Welding in hidden bed boxes, modified smittybuilt front bumper (don't like the way smitty designed the mount), and mounting "nerf bars."

If anyone has any other suggestions, I am open to them.

I got most of the ideas for above listed mods from yotatech subscribers.

34x10.5, just put them on yesterday.. they rub a little bit at full stuff but not really at all lock to lock on flatish ground... the stock springs don't flex for anyway

holy cow do they dig though! We were on powder snow with a hard pack of ice underneath and then another layer of powder below that. The LTB's were digging through the powder, through the hard pack, through the other layer of powder, and at some points left me hung up on my axles on the hard pack in the center with the tires digging down to dirt.

Time for a u-bolt flip

yeah pretty much. I have a feeling that the ubolts and plates are a large part of what was causing my axles to get caught up on the hard pack.. would have been harder to get hung up if they weren't digging in.

and so u dont fudge up your u bolt threads and in the rear, to move ur shock mounts

last time i had my truck in mud that deep...i got hung up on the diff housing...because it sticks down the most...to get more clearance...then u need bigger tires...i would love to be running some 40's...but i have not the power or money...

sure the pumpkin hangs down lower, but imo it is more of a "smooth" surface and will slide over rocks/mud/ice/snow easier than something like a u-bolt plate with nuts/threads hanging down below the axle

I mounted up the 34" LTB's shortly after I got the truck but didn't get any pics really until now. They went on with no lift, and only rub at stuff, or full lock if I'm getting on the skinny pedal

Then I messed up the lame rear bumper pulling my friend out a buncha times








I also put the locker in it last weekend





It goes like no tomorrow, but I need dual tcases

Finally! someone else with big tires and no lift on a 1st gen! I ran 35x12.50s on mine with no lift and only minor rubbing up front at full lock. People kept complaining that they needed a 4" lift to clear 35s....bahaha. Rock on man

they only measure out to like 32.75 or 33" but they fit fine. 10.5" (actually more like 9.75") wide on stock rims on stock truck

I'd rather keep it low, we have some nasty sidehills around here. Eventually it will probably get rears up front and chevies with 35's or 37's
