Maybe you could consider it a half gen 4x4 pickup?! LOL
I get the 2WD/4WD generation lineage, but most neglect to differentiate the drivetrain and/or body. A 1979-1983 4WD pickup is a 1st gen 4WD Pickup; However, technically a 79-83 2WD pickup would be a 3rd gen 2WD pickup. And then 4Runners are all confused because I consider the Trekker to be the 1st gen 4Runner - I still maintain that Toyota created their 4Runner from the idea of Winnebago's design of the Trekker.
Just my 2 cents, please don't crucify me if I offended you! LOL

Saying "Nice first-gen" in a room full of Toyota fanatics just invites confusion!
I totally agree with you on the Trekker being the proto-4Runner, none of the other conversions had features that carried over into the first generation 4runner as clearly as the Trekker's features.

I say it looks like a 4-door truck that will have many USDM owners (myself included) up to their knees in jealousy! That is a very nice truck!

Haha Yeah. It was a bit of a find. An old bloke had for years until he couldn't drive it anymore. and any wonder! The wheels wouldn't turn at all and once i got rolling i soon realised it had no bakes or handbrake at all (literally) It didn't need them. you just took your foot off the gas and it stopped right there haha!! I picked it up and started putting some big hours into it. Now i'm hooked!!! I drive it daily and don't think i could part with her until she's done and looking as original (interior and body) as possible...(With a few modern touches like Wildcat extractors and a six piece stereo that fits with the style of the truck) Trying to find the two tone brown door trim and a tray is proving difficult though I hear there's a fiberglass mob in the states that make them...
Currently doing engine bay work. Having parts restored, repainted or replaced as I go. The last job will be a deep gloss black respray with new chrome tags.

Did a little faux-cockswain's wrap on my steering wheel after pulling it to extend the horn contact ring.
It's only 3/4 done because I ran out of paracord...

I am not trying to push this, Period. Most people that check in here live nowhere near me. Just thought I'd show it because I've known this guy for about 20 years to have this truck and watch him build it and drop in the 3800 cc buick motor. Etc, etc.... And then I come across it on accident on Craigslist? Hahaha... He literally lives like 3 blocks away from me.
Personally, I've always told him I would have liked it better on 35 inch tires... Maybe 33's ... Just to ruffle his feathers. Lol. I guess I'm just surprised that he's finally selling it after probably a thousand people offered to buy it... I was jumping through Craigslist in there it was, holy crapoly! Lol....
