I understand the pics were taken off the TV and it might be due to the lighting but it looks to me like that top has seen some funky repair on towards the d/s center of the canopy. ..almost like the graph work I did when I bobbed my top...my glass work is far from perfect but for a $13k + truck it should be near perfect. .. again it might be the lighting..

What controversy? The state HP of the engine or what? The rear windows aren't correct for an 81..

Today, in the parking lot where I took my mother for a doctors appointment...

And this is a neighbor down the street, I've been to several of his garage sales or he sells multiple car parts and so forth. This thing has I believe 37 inch tires, 1 ton axles and 95 or 96 Buick Regal v6 3800 cc EFI motor in it... With some tweaking to that as well... It is absolutely a beast, and it plays rubber across the intersection even on 37's...( sorry for the terrible picture, I keep meaning to stop by there and ask him if I can get a couple good pictures... But I don't really have the time).....

Find some tube steel, a tube bender and a welder because you mostlikely won't find one

And if you look at the second photo, it looks like it's one of those rare, VW Bus inspired split-window Trekkers!

Also in that same picture, it looks like the DS door has a notch cut into it midway through the window line, like a half-door.

That is an excellent point.

For what it's worth, as much as I love a good Trekker, I prefer the looks of something like Dropzone's rig, or even Slacker's rig. They show a great deal of creativity and ingenuity, they look like actual, approachable trucks someone could drive and that somebody dearly loves.
That auction truck just looks like a Trekker with a cheap tint, too much chrome and an astronomical polish budget.

If it is a repeat, I see nothing wrong with a second round!

mmmm... true second-gen pickup*. Pretty. And in great shape.
I remember a guy on the Marlin board tore down a 73 model second-gen in that exact same colour and converted it to 4X4 using newer parts.
It was a very beautiful thing!

*If anyone's curious, technically our "first-gens" are the third generation pickups, but the first generation mini truck that came with factory 4x4.

Maybe you could consider it a half gen 4x4 pickup?! LOL

I get the 2WD/4WD generation lineage, but most neglect to differentiate the drivetrain and/or body. A 1979-1983 4WD pickup is a 1st gen 4WD Pickup; However, technically a 79-83 2WD pickup would be a 3rd gen 2WD pickup. And then 4Runners are all confused because I consider the Trekker to be the 1st gen 4Runner - I still maintain that Toyota created their 4Runner from the idea of Winnebago's design of the Trekker.

Just my 2 cents, please don't crucify me if I offended you! LOL
