They definitely are collectors items in their own right already, but 11k? I don't think so.
I'm perfectly happy with mine and I paid less than 3k. Just about the only thing I like more on that truck than mine is the paint, which could be remedied for a lot less than 8,000 dollars. Just my opinion though.

Even this is a bit much, ... but then if some one just wanted a cherry for they're kid, I'm the didn't want to pay 30 grand for a new Tacoma for them, and maybe they figured these were better trucks??? Still pricey but nice...

to each there own I guess .. as I have said before
why would anyone spend 100G on a mustang or camero ?
I dont got it , so I guess I wouldnt spend it .. seems to be the theme .. dosnt mean it isnt "worth" it .. to somebody anyways .

Hey DZ....
Yep, that is a stunning and solid beauty! Everything one would want and ready to roll with lots of "beef" added! I think a large part of it is that many of us prefer to rescue a slightly or worse suffering ole Toy (or whatever), rather than buy them done.... as you can relate to and are a great example.of (in the resto and mod and customize realm ).....BUT, if I was physically or literally unable to tackle much of the stuff that I have... Heck yes I would buy a cherry like that! I just love the thrill of the bargain hunt... So I likely wouldn't spend 11 grand on that other one... But if I could get this guy down to... Oh whatever... Sure, why not! But I sure the hell wouldn't begrudge anybody spending their own hard earned money anyway they wish, especially on a professionally and thoughtfully crafted piece of artwork like these can be. Some of the stuff done,....like the crazy welding & fab Inc style stuff... Especially body restoration and paint that is just so perfect,... And maybe with the three RZ or something in there if that's what someone into ... Makes no difference to me , and I gotta say ever since scene your trekker, ..... I've been looking for for one down here ever since that would be worth it. Love your work man!
By the way I love that blue on that truck out in the Inland Empire! what an awesome color!

So the Blue Toy in Inland Empire is still posted to CL, which I assume it's still available. I have to agree with ChefYota4x4 and that "many prefer to rescue a slightly or worse suffering ole Toy". As nice as Blue is, I'm sure there's are many of us who would do some of those mods differently. Making it your own rather than buying someone else's perspective.
On the other hand we are talking about two different things when comparing the Red one from BAT and the Blue one from CL. One is un-restored nearly all original where as the other has almost nothing left original. I for one prefer original over restored of any vehicle. Not knocking restored cars and trucks... they are beautiful! I enjoy going to car/truck shows and seeing complete restorations, but I always tend to like the "Beaters" more, the ones that are an untouched piece of history, nostalgic... a moment in time.
Anyhow... just my 2 cents.

I have to agree with SLACKER. First generation Toyota 4x4 trucks will have their day. If you look at the costs of 1932 Ford street rods, 49 & 50 Merc customs, 1940 Ford street rods, etc you will understand what SLACKER is saying. He references Muscle cars and I reference rods & customs but the First generation Toyota 4x4 trucks, Trekkers, Limited Editions, Mirage, Wolverines and other specialty versions will be high demand vehicles for collectors and their selling prices will be above $50,000.00 US sooner than you think. Many people are buying collector cars versus the stock market as investments and the overseas market demand for collector cars is at an all time high.

A hard hit and you may tweek the slider enough that you won't get the door open. Just looks that way from the angle of the picture

clean truck but I am wondering if you might have angled your sliders up a bit too much. They look like they are just about even with the bottom of the door.

i thought the same too but i took it out and tested them in the area i usually go and they worked great. i had a little mishap a couple weeks prior that i had to fix which cost me almost 300 bucks so i decided to finally put these on. the picture is a bit deceiving. at the same time i dont go out all the time since i dont have too many people around me that i know that go out. i mostly just cruise it around.

Wish I had one... But it looks like I do have a 1980 complete axle end to end with 437 gears if somebody needs it? Lol. .... Got it for the gears but it looks like I won't need it.....
Man I love reading this thread... I really miss my 83!

Thanks man... I'm a classic Monster fan. This is a NOS shift knob I came across. Had to tap and die, but no sweat there. I do have the original shift knob and steering wheel tucked in the garage.
Also I agree with ChefYota4x4 and we gotta keep this thread alive and rollin'! Ilove reading it too, but the post have been far and few. I'd say even if you've posted your truck in the past, go ahead and post an updated pic, somewhere you've recently been or an event, camping, off road... anything!
On another note, if you're in the San Diego are and want to meet me some time this summer, El Cajon has a weekly Classic Car, Truck, Bike Cruise/Show every Wednesday night. Mostly American Muscle's of course, pre 80... but I roll down in my truck anyway and always receive feedback. I remember back in the 80's when cars from the 50's were considered "Classics" and they were barely over 20 years old! If we could even get just a few of us early Toy's there I'm sure it would draw quite a bit of attention. Anyhow let me know, I roll there throughout the summer anyway. I believe it starts up again first week of June!
peace!

The shift knob is pretty sweet.
There are some Japanese car meets around here, mosty datsuns and old corollas, considered taking my truck to one of em.
Last year I made my own knobs, recently i redid the boot too because it was getting pretty torn up.
