The '79 to '81 trucks had round headlights, and '82 and '83 were square. Although I have talked to guys before with '81 models (who were original owners) and they have square headlights. Some late '81 model trucks must have came with the updated features. Likewise with tailgate latches which changed in 81/82... most '79 to '81 trucks have latches on the right and left, but many (later?) '81s and all '82/'83 models had the "new" one-touch tailgate release. And even still, tail gates varied alot, as Toyota had dealers install beds in the States on many of the trucks

I'm not sure about the square headlights on an 81, I fell in love with the round headlights but forget converting it to round. I'll keep my square headlights. Got the engine dropped off at my Cousins house this weekend windshield installed today and the seats are finished too still need a dash pad and carpet for the interior to be done exterior is a long way from done I change ideas like a woman changes her shoes but I cant wait to get this thing on the road!!

Took my, new to me, 1980 toyota truck out to play in the snow we are getting here in Kansas. The truck did awesome in the snow about 6-7inches at the time. Hope you enjoy the pics.

It was still snowing last time I checked. Had to pull my cousin out with a tractor today. I kinda wish I just woulda dropped an LCE longblock in my truck instead of building the whole truck.
