Crimson, These trucks rock in the snow. Especially in the "Cascade concrete". Yoshi will do well, light truck and wide tires on the wet heavy stuff does really well in my experience. I used to pull stuck full sizes out up on Mt. Pilchuck (am orig from Lynnwood) and keep driving to the top.

Well no one has posted on this thread in about a month, but i wanted to share some pics of my little 80 farm truck. Picked it up in june of '12, was just spray painted primered grey when i got it. Done a few little things here and there, painted it red, yes with spraypaint haha. But plan on paintin it black here pretty soon, and i have some 15x8 bullet holes off my old 01 taco im gonna throw on it. I have been just reading around on here for a while and decided i would finally post something. So here yall go!

Thanks for keeping the thread alive Otis80. Great truck, do you know if it came as a flatbed? or was it converted? Either way you can't ask for a better "farm" truck.
I'll keep the thread going with some work I've been doing myself.
The engine compartment may have never been properly cleaned even with the rebuild. The underside of the hood had probably 30 years of filth to where the previous owner tried to clean it but it was so weathered on it just wouldn't wash off, even with degreasers. So I finally got around to tackling it myself and here's the results.

That is one clean hood! Looks like it just came off the showroom floor!
Since we're in the mood of reviving this thread, I've been doing cardio surgery on the heart of my 83 Pickup. I've gone from this:
To this:
And then decided to go for a full rebuild when I was burning through a quart of oil every 300 miles and ended up with this:
Bored .020 over, Engnbldr rebuild kit, rebuilt head, rebuilt rocker assembly, new timing cover, new oil pump, new oil pan, new fan clutch, new alternator, new factory cam, new dual row timing chain/guides/gears, ground/polished crankshaft, new belts, new hoses, new distributor, new fuel pump, new water pump, new head bolts, new motor mounts, LCE block smog off plates, LCE manifold water block plate kit, LCE EGR crossover block plate kit, LCE manifold plug kit, LCE wire loom kit, new wires, Holley fuel pressure regulator (mounted to the intake manifold - slick!), breather filter, Weber 32/36 carb sitting on a LCE spiral adapter, freshly painted valve cover with brushed aluminum raised letters, painted block, painted pulleys, painted motor mounts and painted brackets. Every single nut and bolt was meticulously cleaned or replaced. If you've every wonder what a truly desmogged 22R looks like, this is it! Every single smog component has been removed and it's "hole" blocked off. No rubber vacuum plugs here - they are all plugged at the source with NPT fittings. Up next is the wiring harness to remove the ECM and all the emissions wiring.

Wow! a lot of inspiration there! Unfortunately I'm in California where we have the crappiest smog laws. However your photos will give me a ton of visual for what I want to do. I'm not going to tear it down being it's had a recent rebuild, but will do as much as I can without a complete tear down. The red valve cover was first on my list which I will remove and replace the gasket even though it's not leaking. Being I can't go with an aftermarket carb I will be sending the Air Cleaner and Fan Shroud out for powder coat. It should give it a nice look for stock. As for wires, clamps, hoses and all the small details, I'll be doing it simular to what you've done here. Great job!
Thanks again for posting... Sic!

Someone around Virginia may want to take a look at these. Don't worry, they're not mine. I'm not trying to make a fast one here, just thought somebody might be interested. I REALLY wish I could get that truck though. I just don't have anywhere to put it.

Sparks, Thanks for craigslist links, I'm going to try to buy that pickup if it's still available.
Cman, I just used a 3/4" breather filter on the front hole with a plug on the fitting that goes into the weber filter housing and a PCV valve with the factory Toyota hose going down to the intake manifold.
2shots1beer, California might have a lot of perks, but emissions isn't one of them! LOL
