Gas tank suggestions...?
Hello all. Was back home last week, and after having to drop the tank again, I had a thought. Does anyone still make replacement tanks/pickups for an 80 model? The tank has been refinished, but the nice gentlemen who did that didn't do the whole tank. Is there any way to re-seal the tank the right way now that someone has dorked it up? Advice much appreciated.

Truck is short bed. Tank itself seems in relatively good shape. Tank float sensor shows its age, pretty rough. I got it resealed back in 2010, but it wasn't done right.

You dont give much info? Why did you remove the tank? You said he sealed the inside of tank but only part of it? Weird unless there was rust on bottom and top section was fine?. If theres no leaks and can't see rust you might be ok. Any pics might help. If you can figure the brand of sealer he used I'd think you could reseal with the same?
I removed my tank at 200,000 cause thought there was a clog but was clean as new..then found my computer was screwing up,

No idea what brand sealer was used. It's red, that's about all I know. Can't really tell if there was rust in bottom of tank or not. I dropped it because the engine was getting no fuel and troubleshooting eventually leads to the tank. Pictures would be easy if I were in the same state as the truck, but unfortunately that isn't the case. I actually ended up finding the fuel pick up in the tank completely clogged with either dirt, or whatever else was floating around in the system.

Forgot, if you didn't take the sender apart to clean might be a good idea, I've found dirt in my corvair tanks before.
I can't remember if its the same as my other cars but if like older cars I lightly polish the contact button with the dremel using a fine rubber disc just to be sure the surface is smooth so not to wear the windings prematurely (guess 600 wet & dry would work?). Might change hoses also, weather cracks you can't see could let fuel pump suck air. I pressureized one hose on my '77 wagon and looked like a fish tank airator under water
