Carb freeze -up
How do you guys keep your toyota stock carbs from freezing up in the cold?Mine has the factory snorkel that enters to the right of the radiator and even if I warm the engine before I leave after about ten miles the choke will come backon and it will sputter and miss and the mileage turns to crap. Will I have the same problem if I convert to a Weber 32/36 ? Thanks for any help.

Make sure that little heat shield is on the exhaust manifold and make sure the little heat tube goes to the intake to the carb. My 82 was doing that and I put the shroud back on and the tube back and it works fine now.

Its called a 'Heat Riser' and yes, make sure it is complete, from the shielding over the exhaust manifol, up to the side of the air cleaner, it sucks in warm air from the xhaust and will help prevent this issue.

Unfortunately my engine has headers and no heat shroud or riser tube. It is working a little better since I disconnected the snorkel just above the headers. My main question is If I get a Webber conversion kit there won't be any of the hot water tubing or anything heating related connections to it. Is the cold just a problem with the stock carbs? Thanks for any advise. Fred
