calipers

how do i get my front calipers off of my 1980 4x4 pickup...i got the outside part off...how do i get the other side off...i've looked for bolts..and i cant find them..i think there is a rock in there is the reason im taking them off...i can hear something inside of it rubbing...and theres a deep grove in my rotor...im just gonna leave it alone..aint no way somebody could turn a rotor that much...lol..so yea..how do i get the inside part of the caliper off???????

inside, outside? caliper should come off as 1 with 2 bolts and the hardline

nope...mine had 4 bolts holding it together...took the 4 bolts out..took the outside half of the caliper off....need to get the inside half off...obviously its bolted...but i cant find the bolts...the reason i need in there is because there is a rock back there or a chunk of mud or somethin lol..i hope i didnt screw anything up by taking those bolts out

the Haynes manual states that the hard line comes off first, 2 mounting bolts next, then pull it off the disc as 1, thats they way i've done it all the time with my 79, 82, and 85 solid fronts

Ken,
A 2 piece caliper were have a ton of seals to go wrong under pressure. Are you talking about the pads? to get the pads out there should be two pins, a clip and anti rattle spring. maybe one of the pistons in the caliper is seized.

X2, I checked my 1981 Toyota Factory Manual and it shows basically the same picture posted by 4bangin...

lol..i had taken the wrong bolts out..my bad...there was soo much mud caked on ther i couldnt even hardly see anything...its all good now though...got the rocks out..got em all cleaned up and then i bled them..now i just have to get a new T for my rear brakes...at least i hope that fixes it
