Air intake ideas?

I have a stock 22r w/stock carb. I put on a header and now I'm looking for some ideas on how to make it breath better. Has anyone done a mod on a the air intake? Also, would eliminating some of the vacuum lines cause a problem or would it help?

I am looking into the same sort of thing. I have kinda made up a cold air intake design and just need to go get the parts to do it. Its not all that hard to make. Its just finding the right parts. I am prob gonna mod a older type gm injection cold air. Ill post some pics when I get a chance.

Any ideas would be great. I'm installing a 1 1/2" body lift so I should have some room to work above the carb.

When bought my 79 the PO had a 6.5" Mr. Gasket cheapy filter on top (http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku)

Ended up hunting the junkyard for a stock filter assembly. Got a stock replacement filter and flowed better than that 6.5" crap.

I'd imagine some of the muscle car guys would be able to give you some insight on modding intakes on older carb'ed cars. google muscle car air intakes? make a shaker hood or some sort? now that would be cool, just not sure how much it would shake
