I know the choke has nothing to with the FCS, what I was saying is that the manual choke webers don't come with the FCS. You can operate without a FCS if you A/F is properly tuned and you have a fuel pressure regulator like you said but if you like to advance the timing or run on the rich side then you could get some dieseling side effect from not having a FCS

My electric choke didn't come with it either. I had to get it separately. What your taking about with the manual choke carb's the sol available for them doesn't work with the manual choke carb because the primary idle jet is completely different on a DGV then it is on a DGEV. And your actually more prone to dieseling when turning off if your on the leaner side of the mix due to hotter combustion temps. That hotter temp helps burn the fuel without a spark.

Yes xtreeme. Once again your diagnosis is correct. The float level is off. Gas in the carb window is too high causing spilling into the cylinder and POW. As soon as the rain lets up I will pull the top of the carb and reset the float level.
Might help with MPG's!

You did check the float level while truck was on level ground correct? When you rebuilt that carb, did you put a new float in it? If so, I bet you didn't set it's level and just put the new one in didn't ya? If so, not a big deal I've done that too.

check for moisture under your distriputer cap, could be letting the spark jump to the wrong cylinder causing the backfire

checked the dizzy. When I was in there I put a decent amount of dialectic grease so if moisture was an issue I hope that solved it.
I didn't put a NEW float in there but I did replace the previous float with a newer one. I am about to pull the top of the carb off and fix it but it WILL NOT STOP RAINING>
