80 Pickup Hi-Steer ?
A buddy of mine has a 80 pickup 4x4 and was woudering if you could put hi-steer on if you dont lift it I told himm you can but do you have to have a lift or not. If you do how much lift do you need.

He has his motor out and thought it would be easyer to do it plus his had hi steer sitting around for a long time so he thought he should go ahead and do it. He does wheel it also alot. and dont want to lift it right now because of money.

You'll need about 3" of lift to have the draglink clear the frame and springs. Might be able to get by with less lift if you notch the frame for the draglink. I had ~3"-3.5" of lift on my '85 and was able to squeeze crossover steering in there, but it took some work to adjust the draglink height to clear the frame. It would just rub on the springs with the passenger side at full droop.
