Nicely done! I like the inexpensive way you chose to do the paint job. That may come in handy for me too. You said but didn't post pictures of what you did on the bottom of the bed, with the exception of the finished product. Did you treat the rust before priming and POR15 or was it just undercoating?

Paul, the POR15 treats and seals the rust. I wirewheeled the frame and got all the heavy surface rust and scale off then I brushed on POR. I did the same to the underside of the bed then I primed it and then I undercoated (rubber spray on) it. Hopefully it'll last long enough for me to save up for one of Corey's sweet FG beds.

Looks Great Mule!! Im tryn to get motivated toi do mine, The pics look great only thing i dislikeis the old school purple tint on the rear window, I guess the reason it grabbed my attension is cause mine has the same tint LOL

How has the paint job been holding up? I really want to do this to two of my trucks, but I read on one of the articles that there were a couple guys who were easily scratchig the paint off with their nails. Maybe their mix ratio was off a little.

Hey maistroyoda if you are interested there is a forum for rolled on paint jobs. Search for "rolled on forum." I've read everything (I think) the net offers about this and one thing I've taken from it is only do it if you are a good experienced painter. That is, if you care what it looks like. Govt Mule's job is outstanding and he was very patient. If I were going to do it I would use Interlux Brightside boat paint. It only requires 3 coats with wet sanding before the last coat and it has UV inhibiters in the paint.

If you live near a West Marine they carry it but their prices are high. They are showing Brightside at 38.99/quart. I buy stuff from www.jamestowndistributors.com and they send me free shipping codes pretty frequently. The one they sent me today is good until 11-1-11. Code: HAUL Here's a link to Brightside. I really like this company and when I was painting my boat my order came in two days. You will need something to thin the paint and if I recall correctly the thinner Interlux sells is really MEK. I can buy MEK at my Walmart, next to the other paint thinners. It's probably not legal in California.

You really should find the rolled on forum and read the projects. There's a nice white Cougar on there. I'm not sure if I personally have the patience to do this and with a gas furnace and water heater in my garage I doubt I'll be doing any of my own painting.

Nice truck partner! I did the same paint job on my ol nissan to see how it would turn out. I used the satin black, I liked it, looks like you like yours too. Now just gotta paint my yota.
