More progress
Pulled the bed off and POR-15'd the frame. My frame is actually in very good condition with only surface rust so I wire wheeled it then applied the POR-15. Btw, I think POR-15 is some of the best stuff ever made.
I'm gonna POR-15 and prime the underside of the bed as well. Then I'm gonna shoot it with some undercoat before putting it back on. The bed is actually in really good shape considering it's age and the tendency these single wall beds have to rust out. Mine is definitely salvageable.
Replaced a leaky pinion seal today while the bed is off...sure is easier doing it that way...haha.

Undercoating is complete and the bed is ready to be put back on the frame. After it's re-mounted I'll move on to repainting and bedliner application. Can't wait to be done and back on the road!!

Thx Al...yeah it's quite a bit of work (7+ coats and wetsanding in between) but I owe it to this great little truck.

That truck looks terrific. Had you considered 2-3 coats of Brightside boat paint instead of Rusto? I love your Trekker.

I see the light at the end of the tunnel...
Just laid the final coat on the bed this evening. It's definitely a 10 foot paint job...I know where every single blemish is...haha. But overall it turned out GREAT and I am pleased. I still have to do the tailgate (some body work and paint) but that won't take long.
All totaled I probably have close to $150 in the whole project with POR15ing the frame and undercoating the bed, spray in bedliner, etc.
It's supposed to rain cats and dogs here over the next couple days so I will get pics posted up hopefully this weekend.

it's Rustoleum oil based enamel thinned out with mineral spirits and rolled on with a high density foam roller.
As for the windshield, get your girlfriend or wife to help you, that way if it breaks you have someone other than yourself to blame. makes it easier to justify buying a new one.
