4WD fenders and Bed on 2WD

My plan is to turn my 83 2WD into a road racer (local track just for fun, not for serious competition), & wondering if 4WD fenders/bed is a good route to go.?

My bed is rusted anyway, so i was originally thinking fiberglass, but a 4WD bed would be just as cheap, & give me room for width, & same up front.

It is a year away from even beginning, but just getting ideas.
The truck is a CA smog vehicle, so the only really cool thing i can do with the motor is off-hwy use, so i figure road racer could be fun.

Anyone know of any track toys.?
I've searched some "mini" sites, but they're all street, not track trucks.

Thanks for any links, help, or ideas.!

very common for 2wd trucks to run 4wd fenders, in order to get more coverage over the wheels when they swap to wider tires/offset wheels, etc.
